Position Summary: To develop and maintain multiple instances of Oracle databases on Linux/UNIX environments for the NASA Sponsored Research and Education Support Services contract.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to the
following:
- Install
and configure Oracle database environments
- Provide
architectural and design guidance on Oracle applications
- Design
relational database schemas utilizing common and three-tiered database
structures
- Perform
database backup/recovery, monitoring, performance tuning and
administrative functions for production environment
- Understand
storage configuration impact on application performance and backup/recovery
strategies
- Perform
Oracle install, upgrades, patching and other administrative functions in
developing and testing environments.
- Install,
configure, and deploy Oracle based high-availability solutions on
Linux/Unix platforms
- Configure
Oracle Net/ODBC/JDBC connections
- Assist
team members and developers in solving any Oracle-related problems
Qualification/Requirements:
- Minimum
of 10 years experience with large Oracle test and production environments
(OLTP and/or OLAP)
- Strong
written and oral communications skills
- Demonstrated
expertise with administration of Oracle 10g, as well as RMAN, DataGuard,
and RAC.
- Fluent
in Oracle RDBMS engine, including SQL, PL/SQL and other Oracle components
- Minimum
of 5 years experience with UNIX/Linux environments and familiarity with UNIX
ksh /Linux bash shell scripts
- Experienced
in working with Oracle support for fast problem documentation and
resolution
Other Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- UNIX security shell environments
- Experience with Oracle 11g desireable
- Knowledge
of Data Modeling and any ERD tools
Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences/Information Sciences
or related fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
