Global Science & Technology, Inc. (GST) is proud to announce it’s team is one of five selected to support the Scientific and Technical Support Services Next Generation Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (Sci-Tech NG IDIQ) contract for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The Sci-Tech NG IDIQ is NOAA’s largest scientific and technical support services contract designed to be used throughout the agency. The GST Team will harness its comprehensive management and technical solutions expertise to support the multiple science challenges associated with the Sci-Tech NG IDIQ. The five-year multiple award contract has a maximum value of $550 million.
“Clearly, the GST Team has the ability to offer NOAA strong science-focused expertise,” said GST President Chieh-san Cheng. “We are grateful NOAA is giving our team this remarkable opportunity and we look forward to providing world-class science and technology services across a broad range of disciplines.”
The GST Team will be given an opportunity through the issuance of task orders to support NOAA’s five line offices — NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Ocean Service (NOS), National Weather Service (NWS), and the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR).
The work done under this contract will benefit NOAA in several ways. For example, it will help NOAA get the most out of the data from its operational satellites, leading to improved quality of weather analyses, short and long-term weather predictions and warnings, and climate trends and variability’s.
The contract will also provide science and technical support that will assist in promoting sustainable fisheries and to prevent lost economic potential associated with overfishing, declining species and degraded habitats. Ultimately, it will also provide the research foundation for the complex environmental systems that support our planet, to create better forecasts, earlier warnings for natural disasters and a greater understanding of the Earth.
The science-focused team, made up of many NOAA contractors and more than 29 universities as well as 14 expert consultants, has the following core capabilities: Program Management, Satellite, Data, and Information Support Marine Fisheries Support, Ocean Service Support, Weather Service Support, and Oceanic and Atmospheric Service Support.
